Why we collect your data?
Dropbox collects certain demographic information for two main reasons: (1) our commitment to diversity (good policy), and (2) regulatory compliance (legal stuff).
As a company committed to diversity, we have three main objectives:
- Hire a diverse team
- Advance and develop people equitably
- Engage in personal growth
These objectives are targeted and action-oriented, so that all employees can play a role in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (“DEI”). DEI is infused in our culture, integral to how our internal systems function, and critical to how we think about our business and our customers. To assist with our efforts around the first objective -- hire a diverse team-- we ask that you provide limited demographic information with us to help us accomplish this goal.
In addition to EEO data guiding our diversity efforts, the law also requires that we collect information to complete certain compliance forms and activities related to conducting business.
Providing demographic information is entirely voluntary. Whatever your decision, to provide or not to provide, such information will not be considered in the hiring process or during your employment with Dropbox except to enhance our diversity goals or meet legal requirements. Any information that you do provide will be maintained in a confidential file and used only for diversity efforts or compliance purposes.
Dropbox does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, marital status, ancestry, physical or mental disability, veteran status, gender or gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, or any other category protected by law.
**Candidates based outside of the United States should not answer the questions on Gender or Race/Ethnicity.
