Giving Back at Dropbox: An Impact Day Recap

On November 3rd, Dropbox celebrated Impact Day, our biannual, company-wide day of service that encourages Dropboxers around the world to get involved in their communities. Dropbox for Good (DfG) is an employee-led program that seeks to leverage the power of our people, product, and resources to make the world a better place. In collaboration with Dropbox for Good, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) Neighborhoods (communities based on location), and the Dropbox Foundation, we committed to doing good through volunteering and giving opportunities around the globe.

This Impact Day, we honored our ERGs that have heritage months in the second part of the year, including Latinx, enABLE, and Vets@. We highlighted giving funds and partnered with nonprofits to create opportunities to volunteer and learn how to be better allies for these communities.

Together, Dropboxers logged over 170 volunteer hours and supported over 45 nonprofits through donation and volunteering! Here’s what Dropboxers had to say about getting involved in this Impact Day:

Sorting donations at Treehouse’s store, which provides free, high-quality essentials, like clothing and school supplies, for people who have experienced foster care in Seattle

The Women’s Building

Creating health kits for disadvantaged women in the Bay Area

Age Action Ireland

Providing one-on-one skill-sharing for older individuals in Ireland

NYC Fair Trade Coalition

Organizing clothing, which included a tour of The Sustainable Fashion Community Center and a presentation on sustainable fashion tips

Operation Gratitude

Writing letters of encouragement in partnership with Vets@ for military heroes and first responders

Kinuta Children’s Cafeteria

Supporting Setagaya Shakyo, an organization managing food donation and distribution in Tokyo

American Society for Deaf Children

Participating in a virtual workshop about deaf culture and basic American Sign Language

- Caring for senior dogs at risk in San Francisco

Impact Day was an incredible team effort and we would not have had such a BIG Impact without our DfG leads, cross functional partners, and of course our volunteers!
