Role Description

The Dropbox Tax Team has an exciting opportunity for an Indirect Tax Manager, reporting to the Associate Director for Indirect Tax. As an indirect tax specialist, you will support our global tax reporting, compliance and financial reporting processes related to indirect taxes with primary focus on VAT and GST. You'll be joining a fast-paced, thriving global tax team.  You are a forward thinker, hands-on, analytical and have strong tax technical knowledge. 

Responsibilities

  • You will manage our indirect tax (VAT and GST) compliance obligations and collaborate with our outside service providers, responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual indirect tax returns in multiple jurisdictions
  • Collaborate with product engineers regarding new products and assessing the tax implications for new product launches
  • Analyze and reconcile tax general ledger accounts and perform flux analyses
  • Work seamlessly with the other tax teams on various ad-hoc projects
  • Support our ASC 740 tax provision and tax accounting processes
  • Work cross-functionally with various internal Business Partners (including Accounting, IT, Accounts Payable, Engineering, Legal) and contribute to process improvements that streamline compliance and reporting
  • Research and respond to indirect tax inquiries from our business partners and customers
  • Develop internal tax policy and process documentation
  • Identify tax issues and make recommendations for solutions
  • Actively monitor and analyze indirect tax legislation globally that may impact our business
  • Capture documentation and provide support for tax controversy
  • Perform and document SOX controls
  • Drive process efficiencies and automation for the indirect tax processes

Requirements

  • 5+ years of indirect tax experience with progressively increasing responsibilities and accountability
  • Big Four Accounting experience and / or in-house tech company tax experience
  • Experience with ASC 740 tax provision and tax accounting processes
  • Very Strong understanding of indirect taxes with a focus on VAT and GST
  • Can produce timely deliverables and manage multiple and shifting priorities
  • Inventive and have remarkable analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • You sweat the details, are a master of attention to detail and can drive projects to completion by yourself
  • Can communicate complex tax concepts in ways that are meaningful and useful to non-tax professionals
  • Tech sector experience preferred; SaaS environment a plus
  • Strong Excel skills 
  • Ability to thrive in a Virtual First environment as well as with in-person collaboration
  • You've got a B.S. degree in Finance or Accounting; Chartered Accountant / Tax Qualified strongly preferred
